Trong thời gian diễn ra cuộc thi “VNEJOURNAL.COM'S CONTEST - VIẾT VỀ KHOẢNH KHẮC BẠN YÊU THÍCH NHẤT" (từ 01/01/ 2016 đến 02/02/ 2016), chúng tôi đã nhận được những bức ảnh tuyệt vời cùng những lời tựa chân thành từ các bạn thí sinh ở các lứa tuổi khác nhau trên khắp mọi miền Việt Nam. Tất cả các hình ảnh và lời tựa về "khoảnh khắc bạn ưa thích nhất" từ các bạn thí sinh đã làm cho chúng tôi rất xúc động bởi những lời chia sẻ giàu tình cảm, ý nghĩa và chân thành được bày tỏ dưới mỗi bức ảnh. BTC đã rất phân vân để chọn ra lời tựa hay nhất ,vì vậy, chúng tôi đã làm việc rất nghiêm túc và cẩn thận để đọc, xem xét và cân nhắc để tìm ra được lời chia sẻ ấn tượng nhất.

Và hôm nay BTC chương trình xin được trân trọng thông báo kết quả của cuộc thi .

Về giải nhất :

Giải nhất được chọn bởi một thành viên của Ban tổ chức - Tiến sĩ Giáo dục Melvyn Sakaguchi - Giám đốc Chương trình Giáo dục Quốc tế Hawaii.

“ Bức ảnh gia đình và kí ức về người ông chính là lựa chọn của tôi. Nó cho tôi cảm nhận được về sự quan trọng của gia đình trong mỗi người.

Nhìn vào bức ảnh, tôi nghĩ ngay đến Tết - một dịp lễ truyền thống và  quan trọng của người Việt Nam – Vì vậy mà tôi đã chọn bức ảnh số #4 --- bức ảnh gia đình. Cá nhân tôi nghĩ rằng Tết là dịp để tôn vinh giá trị của gia đình --- và những tình cảm mà gia đình đã tạo nên trọng mỗi con người. Và tình cảm đó, tôi nghĩ rằng,đã được thể hiện rõ trong bức ảnh kỷ niệm gia đình này “

Về giải nhì:

Bức ảnh số #30 là bức ảnh đã đạt được tổng điểm bình chọn cao nhất được tính từ những lượt “Thích và Chia sẻ” trên Facebook. Cụ thể, bức ảnh này nhận được 5245 điểm với 169 "Lượt thích" & 440 "Lượt chia sẻ", trong đó 1 "Lượt thích" nhận được 5 điểm và 1 "Lượt chia sẻ" nhận được 10 điểm.

Về giải ba :

Dành cho người dùng Facebook đã bình chọn cho các bức ảnh yêu thích của mình. Thông tin của mỗi thí sinh comment thông tin cá nhân của mình vào mỗi bức ảnh sẽ được ghi trên phiếu rút thăm may mắn, và tất cả các phiếu này sẽ được đặt trong một chiếc hộp may mắn. Sau đó, Uỷ viên của cuộc thi sẽ rút thăm ngẫu nhiên một phiếu để chọn ra chủ nhân của giải thưởng này.

TET VIETNAM

The increasing competition and burgeoning development needs in the first decades of the 21^st century have dragged people into such a bustling and busy life. People sometimes concentrate too much on pursuing material temptations to understand and feel the true values of this life.

Fortunately, there always comes a time of the year which is slow and warm enough to make people temporarily forget their daily-life pressure. At this time, the rushing pace of life seems to be slower; and it is “Tet” occasion I would like to mention here. In many people’s mind,   the profound significances of “Tet”, together with all the traditions and customs attached to this occasion, are what make the soul of every Vietnamese warm-hearted  and make Vietnam truly Vietnamese.

Tet is a traditional occasion to celebrate the Lunar New Year, therefore Tet often happens between late January and early February according to Gregorian calendar. The preparations including redecorating houses; buying new clothes for children, necessary foods, cakes and candies, jams to welcome and celebrate Tet are indispensable activities and often range from two weeks to even a month.

Besides those preparations, making Chung cakes (sticky rice square cake) – a traditional custom held by generations of Vietnamese people since King Hung found the country - is considered as a completely important activity before Tet officially comes and a point of Vietnamese cuisine.  The beautiful and delicious “Chung” cakes are made of these ingredients: glutinous rice, pork, and green bean carefully wrapped in “Dong” leaves. To create the best “Chung” cakes, it is Vietnamese’s habit to cook them under the fire of wooden.  Family members and neighbors often assist each other in the process of making and cooking “Chung” cakes, which helps raises the fun and significances to the whole of “Tet” occasion.

Decorating the altar is also a beauty in the culture of TET. The altar is clearly cleaned and on the altar, Vietnamese people often put a pair of “Chung” cake; vases of peach, apricot and typical flowers of the weather when “TET” and spring comes like daisies, lilies, gerberas; the colorful boxes of cakes, candies and jam; and fruit tray with 5 different fruits depending on every region and ethnic.

The word "Five" in "five-fruit-tray" expresses for five basic elements called “Metal” – “Plant” – “Water” – “Fire” and “Land” respectively. These five factors are said to have constituted the universe in the concept of Confucianism. Commonly, Vietnamese people use 5 fruits with 5 different colors to arrange the five-fruit-tray such as a bunch of green bananas, persimmons, tangerine, grapefruit (which can be replaced by papaya) and apples. A bunch of green bananas symbolizes for the images of hands spreading out to seize success. Similarly, luck is represented by the persimmons or tangerines. Happiness is characterized by a succulent grapefruit; the sufficiency is hidden in the papaya while apple is a symbol of prosperity.

New Year’s Eve - when everyone returns home to enjoy Tet with their cherished family and relatives, is a time for reunion. People, both the young and the old, make resolutions for themselves to carry out during the New Year. These resolutions can vary from trivial things such as breaking themselves of a negative habit to more ambitious ones like getting promotions in career. When the 0:00 o’clock bell rang, people give their beloved ones the dearest wishes, enjoy the firework performance together, and expect a promising and glorious year for themselves and their family.

On the first day of Tet, activities usually start late. Family members gather together for the first meal of the New Year. The traditional dishes imbued with Vietnamese identity - the symbols of good luck and success such as “Chung” cake, glass noodles, chicken, pickled onions and jellied pork are elaborately prepared and excellently cooked, contributing remarkably to the significance of “TET”. People also visit pagodas to pray for a healthy, peaceful, happy, wealthy and prosperousyear for the entire family.

An additional feature that amounts to the uniqueness of Tet is the custom of asking for lucky words, sentences or sincere wishes. Old calligraphists often give passers-by meaningful words, sentences or wishes written in black ink on crimson paper. It is widely acknowledged that hanging that extraordinary kind of art form at home will bring the family luck and peace in the New Year.

In Vietnamese people’ mind, TET is an occasion for family reunion, visiting relatives, teachers and friends after such a busy year that we spend just little time for each other. Therefore, Tet is a chance to narrow the gap among people and connect people together. People send each other the best wishes. Adult award children the red envelopes with lucky money inside them and children cross their arms, bowed their heads and say “Thank you” before spreading their pretty lovely little hands to receive the first buds from adults.

TET is considered as one of the happiest and most important time of the year, which helps increase the attractiveness of Vietnamese culture. Therefore, people all try to forget all their sadness to comfortably enjoy their TET holiday with their family and their friends. 

Life Lessons: Dealing With Grief

When a parent of an adult dies, some view it as a rite of passage.  Some feel that you should take that death in stride, handle loss in an adult manner.

What does that mean? Not be sad? Be grateful that Dad did not die when you were a child?
That would be under estimating grief.  Loss does not diminish because you are an adult or because your mother or father lived a long life.

Here’s what most people don’t understand: Whether our parents live near or far, are emotionally close or distant, they anchor us in the world. Even though we know they will die someday, most of us cannot a fathom a world without them. Can you imagine a world without a sky? Of course not. It has always been there. 

Often we lose a parent after a long illness, but sometimes the death is sudden. For some the call comes on an otherwise idle Thursday.  Out of the blue, our world turns upside down without warning. How can this be? Mom was fine, and now she is not. Dad was here, and now he is not.

Sudden death compounds the loss.  That’s because there is no preparation, no goodbye, just the loudest absence one could ever imagine.  As a result in sudden death, the denial will be longer and deeper.  The more sudden the death, the longer it may take to grieve the loss.

Give yourself that time.

Our society places enormous pressure on us to get over loss.  But how long do you grieve for your mother of 40 or more years?

The answer is simple: You grieve for as long as you need to.

On the 20 months anniversary of launching the project “ELTiCenter.wordpress.com Website” (the original version of Vnejournal.com Website), 3 months anniversary of launching the “Vnejournal.com Website Project” and welcome the New Year 2016, we are happy to announce the “VNEJOURNAL.COM’S CONTEST – WRITE FOR YOUR FAVORED MOMENTS”.

The Vietnamese English Journal Website Project (Vnejournal.com) is originated from the ELTiCenter.wordpress.com Website, an online hub supported by Hawai’i International Education Program (HIEP) with the missions of disseminating updated information about scholarships/ grants and promoting innovative practices in English language learning and teaching throughout Vietnam.

ELTiCenter.wordpress.comWebsite has been being officially operated since April 2014 at the address: https://elticenter.wordpress.com/ with the slogan “Empower Teachers, Inspire Learning”.

After more than 01 year running the ELTiCenter.wordpress.com Website, the Project team could gain a lot precious experience of conducting an Educational Website Project and we decided to continue developing this project by implementing a new Website named “The Vietnamese English Journal” Vnejournal.com )

The “VNEJOURNAL.COM’S CONTEST – WRITE FOR YOUR FAVORED MOMENTS” is organized in order to create a good environment for English learners to practice their English writing skill. Simultaneously, we are also looking forward to seeing your most favorite photos and reading your sincere sharing about those photos.

V. Themes of the photo and the caption

Each participant submits:

-         One photo that you like the most

-         One caption to answer the question: Write something about that photo in English  (20-50 words)

Note:

-         Your photo must be clear and in high quality

-         Photos downloaded or copied on the Internet are invalid.

VI. Regulations of the contest

The photo with a caption written in English must be directly sent to the email: vnenglishjournal@gmail.com; or the Message Box of Fan Page: https://www.facebook.com/vnejournal/?fref=ts/.

Time: January 01st, 2015 and January 21st, 2016.

Your email or Facebook Message and attachment should be titled as the “VNEJOURNAL.COM’S CONTEST” - Your Full Name”.

Any photo found to be downloaded or copied from the Internet; and any caption found to be plagiarized will be automatically disqualified.

Nhân dịp kỉ niệm 20 tháng triển khai dự án “Website ELT iCenter.wordpress.com (phiên bản gốc của Website Vnejournal.com), 3 tháng ra mắt Website Vnejournal.com; và đón chào Năm Mới 2016, ban biên tập dự án trân trọng tổ chức cuộc thi ““VNEJOURNAL.COM’S CONTEST – WRITE FOR YOUR FAVORED MOMENTS”. (Viết về khoảnh khắc bạn yêu thích nhất.)

Dự án Website Vnejounal.com được phát triển từ Dự án Website ELTiCenter.wordpress.com, một dự án trung tâm trực tuyến được Hiệp Hội Quốc Tế Giáo Dục Hawaii đầu tư, với sư mệnh cập nhật thông tin về các nguồn học bổng/ phụ cấp giáo dục cũng như thúc đẩy các phương pháp, hoạt động đổi mới trong việc giảng dạy và học tập tiếng Anh ở Việt Nam.

Website ELTiCenter.wordpress.com đã được chính thức ra mắt từ tháng 04/2014 tại địa chỉ https://elticenter.wordpress.com/ với slogan “Empower Teachers, Inspire Learning”.

Sau hơn 01 năm triển khai Website ELTiCenter.wordpress.com, các thành viên của dự án đã tích lũy được rất nhiều kinh nghiệm về việc triển khai và phát triển một Dự án Website Giáo Dục và chúng tôi đã đi đến quyết định phát triển dự án này bằng cách triển khai một Website mới mang tên “The Vietnamese English Journal”.

Cuộc thi “VNEJOURNAL.COM’S CONTEST – WRITE FOR YOUR FAVORED MOMENTS” được tổ chức để tạo ra một môi trường tích cực cho những người học tiếng Anh thực hành kĩ năng viết tiếng Anh. Đồng thời, Ban Tổ Chức (BTC) hy vọng sẽ được xem những bức ảnh các bạn yêu thích nhất cũng như đọc những lời chia sẻ chân thật của các bạn về những bức ảnh đó.

I. Ban tổ chức (BTC)

II. Cơ cấu giải thưởng

-         Một giải cho lời chia sẻ hay nhất: 500000 VND tiền mặt và giấy chứng nhận

-         Một giải cho bức ảnh được điểm bình chọn cao nhất: 300000 VND tiền mặt và giấy chứng nhận

-         Một giải cho người dùng Facebook may mắn nhất: 200000 VND tiền mặt và giấy chứng nhận

Giải thưởng được trao trực tiếp hoặc chuyển khoản và gửi qua đường bưu điện.

III. Đối tượng tham dự cuộc thi

Tất cả những người yêu thích tiếng Anh ở mọi lứa tuổi

IV. Thời gian diễn ra cuộc thi

-         Giai đoạn 1: Gửi ảnh và caption: 01/01/2016 – 21/01/2016

-         Giai đoạn 2: BTC cập nhật abum ảnh và các caption của các bức ảnh: 21/01/2016 – 06/02/2016

-         Ngày công bố kết quả cuộc thi (dự kiến): 08/02/2016

Các thí sinh đạt giải sẽ được BTC liên hệ để trao giải thưởng từ ngày 08/02/2016 – 15/02/2016 qua điện thoại hoặc email, nếu quá thời gian này mà thí sinh không liên lạc lại với BTC để nhận giải thưởng nếu BTC đã liên hệ thì giải thưởng sẽ được tự động chuyển vào quĩ từ thiện của chương trình giáo dục quốc tế Hawaii

V. Chủ đề của bức ảnh và lời chia sẻ về bức ảnh

Mỗi thí sinh cần gửi:
  - Một bức ảnh bạn thích nhất
  - Một lời chia sẻ để trả lời câu hỏi: 
Viết gì đó về bức ảnh đó bằng Tiếng Anh (20-50 từ).

Chú ý:
- Bức ảnh của bạn cần rõ nét, ở chất lượng tốt.
- Những bức ảnh download hay copy từ trên mạng sẽ không hợp lệ.

VI. Thể lệ cuộc thi

Bức ảnh và lời chia sẻ về bức ảnh viết bằng tiếng Anh cần được gửi trực tiếp vào email: vnenglishjournal@gmail.com; hay gửi Inbox vào Fan Page: https://www.facebook.com/vnejournal/?fref=ts/.

Email hay Tin nhắn Facebook của các bạn kèm theo bức ảnh và lời chia sẻ cần ghi rõ: “VNEJOURNAL.COM’S CONTEST” – Họ & Tên của bạn”.

Bất kì bức ảnh nào có dấu hiệu download hay copy từ trên mạng; hoặc bất kì lời chia sẻ nào có dấu hiệu đạo văn sẽ bị loại khỏi cuộc thi.

BTC không chịu trách nhiệm trong các trường hợp mất ảnh/ lời chia sẻ, lỗi mail hay bất kì sự cố điện tử khác.

* Vui lòng ghi rõ thông tin cá nhân của bạn trong email hoặc tin nhắn Facebook, bao gồm: Số CMND, Địa chỉ và SĐT.

VII. Quá trình tuyển chọn ra chủ nhân của ba giải thưởng sẽ được thực hiện như sau:

1.      Một giải cho lời chia sẻ hay nhất

Giải thưởng này sẽ được chấm điểm và đánh giá bởi BTC.

Tiêu chí đánh giá:

Lời dẫn đi kèm với mỗi bức ảnh được đánh giá theo năm tiêu chí: Từ vựng, Ngữ pháp, Bố cục, Tính Sáng tạo, và Thông điệp của lời dẫn.

2.      Một giải cho bức ảnh được điểm bình chọn cao nhất

Giải thưởng này sẽ được lựa chọn dựa trên điểm bình chọn của người dùng Facebook đối với bức ảnh được update trên Fanpage của Vnejournal.com website tại địa chỉ: https://www.facebook.com/vnejournal/?fref=ts , cụ thể điểm bình chọn được tính như sau:

1 like = 5 điểm

1 share – 10 điểm

Thí sinh sở hữu bức ảnh có tổng điểm cao nhất được tính từ các lượt “Like” & “Share” sẽ đạt được giải thưởng này.

Lưu ý: BTC chỉ tính điểm cho mỗi lượt “Like” hoặc “Share” đảm bảo 2 yêu cầu sau:

-Chủ nhân của mỗi lượt “Like” và “Share” bức ảnh đó cần ấn “Like” Fan Page https://www.facebook.com/vnejournal/?fref=ts.

-BTC chỉ tính điểm cho các lượt “Like” hoặc “Share” trên bức ảnh đăng trực tiếp tại album ảnh của cuộc thi trên Fan page https://www.facebook.com/vnejournal/?fref=ts.

3.      Một giải cho người dùng Facebook may mắn nhất

Giải thưởng này sẽ được lựa chọn ngẫu nhiên bằng cách rút thăm các phiếu rút thăm may mắn có ghi tên của các người dùng Facebook hoàn thành đủ 3 bước sau.

Bước 1: Ấn Like Fanpage https://www.facebook.com/vnejournal/?fref=ts

Bước 2: Ấn Like bức ảnh bạn thích nhất trong album ảnh BTC update trên Fan Page

Bước 3: Comment vào bức ảnh đó với nội dung sau: họ và tên của bạn, số điện thoại; và tag tên 10 người bạn trên Facebook của bạn.

Lưu ý: Tên và thông tin của mỗi thí sinh comment vào mỗi bức ảnh sẽ được ghi trên phiếu rút thăm may mắn, và tất cả các phiếu này sẽ được đặt trong một chiếc hộp may mắn. Sau đó, Uỷ viên của cuộc thi sẽ rút thăm ngẫu nhiên một phiếu để chọn ra chủ nhân của giải thưởng này.

Kết quả của cuộc thi sẽ được công bố trên Website và Fan Page của Dự án Website Vnejournal.com.
